The weathervane was donated to the Village of Clayton by Augusta (Lottie) Mann in memory of her husband after he died. The weathervane was an aid to fishermen, showing them which direction the wind was blowing. It had its first home on top of the Walton House where Mr. and Mrs. Mann had a suite when they came to Clayton for fishing trips. The hotel was located on the corner of Riverside Drive and James Street where Mars Pizza is now located. After the Walton House was torn down in 1930, the weathervane was placed on the roof of the Opera House. The interior of the theater is an elegant five-story space draped in honey-toned onyx and features 78 crystal light fixtures including three stunning chandeliers each made with 24,000 individual pieces of hand-polished crystal from Munich. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the first and largest theater of The Music Center, was built in 1964. The average age of the Covent Garden audience has gone down from 52 to 48 over the past five years he said, opera goers aged between 20 and 29 have more than doubled, ballet audiences have seen an increase of almost the same amount.

It was designed by Welton Becket using a “Total Design” aesthetic. Every facet from the building’s structure and engineering to its interior design—lighting fixtures, carpeting, typography, restaurant china and flatware—was designed by the firm for a unified and integrated look. Brexit is adding expense and layers of bureaucracy he said, but has not prevented them attracting the artists they want. “The visa regime is much much more difficult if you’re an individual or an orchestra performing or touring in Europe, which is damaging the ecology as a whole”, but he applauded the extension of theatre tax relief in the last budget – “an enormous help”.

Raked Stage

Beard pointed to their ever expanding learning programme that currently works in 1,500 schools reaching 40,000 children, while this upcoming season, 11 productions will be in 1,500 cinemas across the world. The Clayton Opera House, a Nationally Registered Historic Place, is a stately four-story brick structure overlooking the St. Lawrence River in downtown Clayton, New York. The Opera House has served as an important hub for cultural and community events for over a century and is a fine example of the vaudeville theaters which sprung up throughout the United States in the early 1900s. Today, TIPAF is a non-profit organization that is run by a Board of Directors of members.

It was the home of the LA Philharmonic for decades and the site for more than 20 Academy Awards presentations between 1969 and 1999. It has been the home of LA Opera since 1986, sharing its stage with Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center. The concert hall houses Ray Garica's Astrid with collaborations with levy restaurants which offer other dining options throughout The Music Center complex. “Our name now describes the whole span of what we do,” he said, adding that it reflects the fact that the ROH is only one of many places where the company’s work is now experienced.

FRANCISCO SALAZAR, (Publisher) worked as a reporter for Latin Post where he has had the privilege of interviewing numerous opera stars including Anita Rachvelishvili and Ailyn Perez. The season concludes with Handel’s “Semele” starring Pretty Yende, Ben Bliss, Brindley Sherratt, Carlo Vistoli, and Alice Coote. Now pursuing a degree in writing at Syracuse University, she is happy to combine her two passions-- music and writing-- in her every day life. TIPAF raised $3.25 million from private donations and grants for the renovations and remains in an agreement with the Town of Clayton to manage the Opera House. The cornerstone of the Opera House was laid in August 1903 and the building was completed in July 1904.

It is an important cultural destination for residents and tourists of the Thousand Islands region. This venue can be rented for social functions, business activities and community events. Located north of Watertown, the Clayton Opera House in the town of Clayton is an historic performance venue, and serves as a hub for cultural and community events for over a centurty. Opened in 1903, the four-story brick building overlooks the St. Lawrence River, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Opera House was built for the Town of Clayton at a cost of $15,000.

In 1950, the theater company called the Thousand Islands Playhouse moved into the Opera House for five summers, July through Labor Day. They had a professional acting group from New York City and presented such plays as “Streetcar Named Desire”, “Design for Living”, “Arsenic and Old Lace”, “Tobacco Road”, and “Seven Year Itch”. The very first entertainment in the Opera House was presented by the Traveler’s Club in early January 1904. The first big dance held there was the Fireman’s Ball on February 10, 1904 with music provided by Whittier & Lapatra’s orchestra. In 1920, according to Grace Louise Frink Reinman, a polished brass weathervane, which depicts the traditional large fish of the area, the muskellunge, was crafted by Carl Frink, founder of the Frink Snow Plow Company. At that time Mr. Frink had a vulcanizing and automobile tire sales business on Riverside Drive where the US Customs office was located.

The evolution of the overall name sees the two companies whose home is the Royal Opera House unite in what Beard describes as “a massively overdue change”. “The Royal Opera House”, as the company was previously known, did not make clear that the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera companies were part of the same organisation, Beard said. He promotes artists through PhanArt shows, highlighting music-inspired fan creations while supporting The Mockingbird Foundation and Groovesafe. In 2003, the Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund (TIPAF) and the Town of Clayton contractually agreed upon the renovation and revival of the Opera House. TIPAF raised $3,275,000 for the 2007 renovation of the facility and now manages the ongoing operations of the Opera House.

With the Walt Disney Concert Hall being a project that demanded a high budget and an elegant style, Gehry did not seem like the right candidate for the job. The Royal Ballet will present the European premiere of Wayne McGregor’s MaddAddam, based on Margaret Atwood’s trilogy of novels (Oryx and Crake, The Year of the Flood and MaddAddam) with a specially commissioned score by Max Richter. The return of Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet marks its 60th anniversary; also 60 years old is John Cranko’s take on Pushkin’s Onegin which will be on the main stage only a few months after its operatic counterpart. New work will be presented by choreographers including Christopher Wheeldon, Joseph Toonga, Kyle Abraham and Crystal Pite.

Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” will open the season with a cast that includes Luca Micheletti, Ying Fang, Huw Montague Rendall, Jacquelyn Stucker, and Ginger Costa-Jackson. Prior to creating OperaWire, DAVID SALAZAR, (Editor-in-Chief) worked as a reporter for Latin Post where he interviewed major opera stars including Placido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Vittorio Grigolo, Diana Damrau and Rolando Villazon among others. His 2014 interview with opera star Kristine Opolais was cited in a New York Times Review. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion has been the site of unparalleled performances by stunning music luminaries and virtuosos.

The second cast will include Ewa Płonka, Gwyn Hughes Jones, Gemma Summerfield, and Jerzy Butryn with Francesco Ivan Ciampa conducting. Sonya Yoncheva returns to the title role of Puccini’s “Tosca” alongside a cast starring SeokJong Baek and Bryn Terfel. The company will present a double bill “Trouble in Tahiti” and “A Quiet Place.” The productions will be conducted by Nicholas Chalmers and will star Henry Neill, Wallis Giunta, Grant Doyle, Henry Neill, Rowan Pierce, Nick Pritchard, and Sarah Pring. “Carousel” will star Brandie Sutton, Jamie Barton, Anya Matanovic, Omar Najmi, Markel Reed, and Edward Nelson.

It was constructed on the corner of Water (now Riverside Drive) and Merrick Streets, which was the site of the once-thriving Johnston Shipyard (1). Its architect was Frank T. Lent, born in Poughkeepsie, N. Y, and had an office in Clayton. Lent also  designed a number of homes on islands and in Gananoque, ON. George R. Kenyon was its builder; he was the grandfather of former Clayton Mayor Dale Kenyon, Damon Kenyon, Ann Kenyon Storandt, and Gordon Cerow, Jr.

Breaking away from its squared-off shape, the home now features cross gables over the garage and second level to create a more dynamic roofline.

That natural beauty of the stone will still be able to shine through when you are using veneer panel stone siding. Veneer panel stone siding might be the best choice that you could possibly make for siding when you’re interested in the look of natural stone. The biggest difference is that this type of siding isn’t sold as natural stones that have been found. Working with this type of siding is so much easier than working with natural stone. One of the biggest reasons for this is that it is significantly lighter than either of the previous options on this list.

Quartzite: Where Durability Meets Beauty

Molds are used to culture individual cement stones that replicate the look of traditional stone siding. The labor that is necessary to install this type of siding is significant, as well. The people who are doing the work will need special equipment to be able to properly install the stone.

Choosing quartzite for your home’s exterior cladding is a decision that harmonizes modern aesthetics with exceptional durability. Quartzite, a metamorphic rock derived from sandstone, combines the beauty of marble with the durability of granite for a luxurious and sophisticated look. Beyond aesthetics, limestone offers exceptional durability making it a popular choice for home exteriors.

An exterior home renovation helped the sprawling ranch-style home step into view. Visualizer tools are a game-changer when it comes to selecting the ideal stone veneer siding for your home. If you are looking to clean a small amount of stone siding, you can fill a bucket with warm water and either liquid dish soap or a stone cleaner you purchase at a home improvement store. You can then use a soft-bristled brush to scrub your stone, removing dirt, algae, moss, bird feces or other unwanted elements from the siding. If you have a lot of stone siding you are looking to clean, you should call in a professional to softwash your stone siding. Pressure washing can damage your stone, so you should always stick to soft washing to ensure your stone gets as clean as possible without becoming damaged.

One of the most enticing aspects of sandstone is its aesthetic versatility. Available in shades of warm beige, golden yellow, red, and even cool grays, sandstone complements a wide range of architectural styles. Its natural grain and texture invokes a rustic vibe and creates an inviting, organic look that adds character and charm to any home.

Even after all the exterior home renovations, the cottage's original character remains intact. A quirky facade with cottage charm had deteriorated over the years, leaving the home in shambles. Boarded up windows, a crumbling front stoop, and a barren yard signaled a cry for help.

Contrast Light Stone With a Dark House Color

Its timeless presence in architectural wonders, monuments, and everyday structures bears testament to its unwavering significance. From the towering pyramids of Egypt to the majestic castles of England and Continental Europe, stone has been the medium through which humanity has manifested its aspirations for permanence and security. It winds up being a lot lighter than most other types of stone siding, too.

While this incident is isolated, recent crime has caught people's attention. Monday's tragedy happened just more than 17 years after two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers died in the line of duty. The March 31, 2007 shooting claimed the lives of officers Jeff Shelton and Sean Clark while they tried to respond to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex.

"Two more storm systems will affect the Central states this week," AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said. If your loved one was impacted by this incident, WCNC Charlotte hopes to make this process less painful with our More Than A Number initiative. With your help, we want to share who your loved one was with our viewers in North Carolina and South Carolina. When you're ready, fill out the form below or send us photos, memories and other details about them to East Charlotte has historically struggled with upward mobility.

Severe thunderstorms bring large hailstones, cut power to thousands in SC

Live on WBTV, Tyler Wilson described officers streaming into his home, including one officer Wilson said appeared to be a sniper using his window during an active shootout Monday afternoon. His backyard is adjacent to the backyard of the one involved in the incident, Wilson said. (WBTV) - A neighbor said dozens of law enforcement officers used his home and backyard in a shootout that happened Monday afternoon in an east Charlotte neighborhood. "The overall coverage of severe weather on Thursday may be more localized when compared to Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as that of this past Friday and Saturday," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Matt Benz said.

Charlotte gets some kind of precipitation, on average, 105 days per year. Precipitation is rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground. In order for precipitation to be counted you have to get at least .01 inches on the ground to measure.

CWSU meteorologists provide formal weather briefings to FAA supervisors within the   Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) for the day and evening shifts. Verbal briefings are given to individual controllers at the ARTCC and tower control facilities around the   airspace, as well as to equipment technicians when weather conditions dictate. Two types of written products are also provided by the CWSU meteorologists.

Rerouting of aircraft around hazardous weather is based largely on forecasts provided by the CWSU meteorologist. National products issued by the CWSU meteorologist include Center Weather Advisories (CWA) and Meteorological Impact Statements (MIS). The CWA is a short term advisory valid for two hours or less describing areas of hazardous weather in progress or forecast to develop. The MIS is a forecast product valid up to 12 hours describing areas of weather that may impact air traffic operations. AccuWeather has a moderate risk of severe weather, including tornadoes, in this area, as well as a small part of southeastern South Dakota, southwestern Minnesota, northeastern Kansas and northwestern Missouri Tuesday.

The overall threat of severe weather Tuesday afternoon and evening will extend as far to the south as west-central Texas. "This storm will bring a reprise of severe weather, mainly in the form of high winds and hail, but also the potential for tornadoes in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa on Tuesday afternoon and evening," Rayno said. Omaha, Nebraska, may be in the middle of the threat zone. Many of the same areas that were rocked and devastated by severe weather and flash flooding in recent days may be hit again or at least under the threat of severe weather, including tornadoes. Severe weather and the likelihood of more tornadoes will return to the central United States, spanning Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, AccuWeather meteorologists warn.

Home-style seafood entrees

monterey's fish house restaurant

But if raw, salty bivalves isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other fish in the sea. We’re talking thick swordfish cuts cooked in duck fat, a whole flounder doused in lemon, and a buttery lobster roll on a brioche bun. The dining room is massive, but it gets packed around dinner time so reservations are a good idea. Aside from serving excellent dishes, this West Midtown spot is one of the most well-known Atlanta seafood institutions so you should hit it at least once just to say you’ve been. Though we aren’t exactly known as a seafood city, we do love our aquatic foods, as evidenced by the number of crab shack chains that’ve tripled in the last few years. So yeah, our fresh-catches are flown in, but there are still plenty of Atlanta restaurants where the fish is flaky and the oysters are slurp-worthy.

Monterey's Favorite Seafood Restaurant831-373-4647

monterey's fish house restaurant

We’ve eaten meals on planes that had more elbow room than this tiny Poncey-Highland seafood spot, but you won’t find a blackened grouper sandwich packed with this much spicy char anywhere else in the city. Fishmonger specializes in fish sandwiches ranging from lobster rolls to a fresh (not-canned) tuna melt, which is served cold despite the melted cheese stuck to hearty sourdough bread. And their seafood chowder and citrus-sprinkled ceviches are just as good as the bready dishes. Order at the counter and fight for one of the 10 or 12 seats inside the cramped room. Luckily you don't need tons of space to eat oysters and chow down on the city’s best fish sandwiches. Don’t let the down-home aesthetics deter you from scarfing down a meal at Fontaine’s—this dive bar fills a void for Atlantans who want to eat legit seafood in an uber-casual environment.

Sea Salt

Start with the creamy new england chowder served in a mug (taking the phrase “good enough to drink” to new heights). Then move on any of the fish sandwiches, which is what this place does best. The crispy cod sandwich has such massive slices of the white fish that each piece hangs over the sides of the bread, and pickles and a vinegary slaw keep any dryness at bay.

The Seafood Menu

The tender octopus, garnished with olives and red onions, is simply the best we’ve had in this landlocked city. Throw in some entrees like the light and flaky whole fagri or lemon-heavy halibut and you’ve got yourself a great seafood meal. Antonio (ToTo) Di Girolamo, David’s father, was born in Summerville, MA, one of twelve children of Sicilian immigrants Fillippo and Rosina. The family relocated to Monterey when ToTo was eight where ToTo worked alongside his father Fillippo in Monterey’s burgeoning fishing industry. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Petrof Bay, earning the Silver Star Medal during WWII. Lure Fish House is a family-owned restaurant featuring fresh and sustainable seafood from trusted sources.

It’s mostly because the nautical-themed decor can give off a questionable cruise ship vibe. But the real reason we go to this seafood restaurant is for their lobster roll, served on a buttery hamburger bun with chunks of lobster meat the size of a peach. But when Atlanta temps soar, we head to this bungalow joint just off the Eastside Trail and pretend there’s sand. Breaker Breaker technically sits in Inman Park and has a menu stuffed with seafood favorites like the well-seasoned blackened grouper sandwich and fried shrimp and fish platters. These are best enjoyed out on the narrow patio, which overlooks the BeltLine foot traffic. On those days when raw-dogging the ATL sun seems perilous, sit inside where you can still catch a breeze from the windows that open to allow walk-up bar service from the patio.

The 14 Best Seafood Restaurants In Atlanta

This isn’t the place to come for high-grade bluefin tuna or premium caviar, but for cheesy fish melts or a spicy Cajun shrimp boil with a view, it’s a solid seafood stop. C&S Oyster Bar in Vinings serves excellent seafood classics, which explains why this place has been Atlanta's go-to fish spot since it opened nearly two decades ago. The black and white photos and art deco light fixtures feel nostalgic for an era when old-money types would slurp oysters and martinis with reckless abandon. Come for a business lunch, and get the lobster roll with crispy shoestring fries. For dinner, the daily fish specials (think crab-stuffed grouper or soy-chili sea bass) always prove to be the best order at the table. Delicious fried seafood baskets, an unmissable lobster bisque, and low-salinity oysters are their seafood triple threat.

The giant 90-foot tall fish sculpture outside of this Buckhead seafood restaurant acts like a beacon to all who love fish and a little gaudiness. Come to this pillared, multilevel dining room to eat reliably good platters of fried scallops and shrimp, jumbo crab cakes, and Hong Kong-style halibut in a sherry soy rice bowl. Fish options are flown in daily, and you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in town that offers a wider variety of seafood. Atlanta Fish Market may no longer hold the see-and-be-seen status it previously held for decades, but eating here can still rival the fine seafood houses of any coastal city. Since it opened in 2012, The Optimist has established itself as one of the premier spots for oysters in Atlanta.

David DiGirolamo grew up working in his family’s restaurant, Angelo’s on Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey, preparing and serving fresh fish his father caught daily. Voted Best Seafood in Monterey year after year and mentioned in Sunset and Coastal Living Magazines. Enjoy historic family photos and patron photo wall where fish stories abound! We feel borderline inappropriate rapidly devouring wood-fire-grilled octopus on Kyma’s white linen-covered tables. But it's easy to forget your surroundings—the giant ornate white pillars and posh international business groups—because that’s just how good the seafood is at this Greek restaurant in Buckhead.

This seafood restaurant sits in the outdated shopping plaza above the old Howell Mill Walmart that a shopper arsoned into non-existence. At night, salmon with a nice char comes with a side of hookah smoke and a bumping soundtrack from a DJ (there’s an elevated DJ booth just off the dining area). But we usually come during the more relaxed daylight hours to dive into their cheesy Sea Salt Dip with huge chunks of lobster and shrimp. Since Bully Boy opened off the Eastside BeltLine trail behind Two Urban Licks in 2018, it’s offered Atlantans a relaxed, Japanese seafood spot that does a little bit of everything. Start by slurping down a dozen Blue Point oysters before you move onto a couple of sushi rolls (we like the Godzilla roll with spicy salmon) and flaky red snapper or scallops over creamy risotto.

The Lure Oyster House serves a variety of fresh oysters, as well as unique specialties such as our renowned charbroiled oysters. Our bar features local wines and cocktails made with freshly squeezed fruit juices. Monterey’s Fish House is owned and operated by the DiGirolamo family, with deep roots in the Monterey fishing and restaurant industries.

All the usual dive bar trappings are present (low lighting, dark wood paneling, and creaky booths that’ve seen better days). But the owners of this VaHi spot went a step further and stuffed the menu with a variety of underwater things too. Since it’s an oyster house, start with a dozen (props if you wanna shoot for 48). Then move on to dishes like creamy lobster mac and cheese, perfectly crispy fried grouper, and blackened salmon. When a dribble of seafood gumbo trickles down your chin, it’s a surprise to find a heavy duty cloth napkin rolled and ready for use. It would be easy to dismiss this oyster and seafood spot as the second-rate version of The Optimist since Beetlecat is their more casual, more affordable sister restaurant.

Because they do many things well, bring a few friends so you can order more kaiseki-style plates. Seafood restaurants are generally good choices for date nights, but Buckhead's Snap Thai Fish House is our ace in the hole since the setting is as impressive as the food. The crisp, bright space is filled with big windows, gold rod benches, and dangling shapes that look like a school of fish. The coastal Thai menu isn't long and imposing, but that won’t stop the tempting roster of soups, starters, and sustainable catches from making you squirm in indecision. Just get the shrimp and scallop pasta bursting with basil and bell peppers or a chilean sea bass that pairs tremendously with massaman curry. Lure's seasonally-focused menu offers an array of classics like mussels, ceviches, fish tacos, lobster, organic salads, and simply seared fish served with unique sides.

But what really keeps us coming back is the massive patio and small-town atmosphere we seldom find in the busy city center. Regulars who’ve been coming here for decades swap stories with their favorite bartenders, while first-timers join the club with a sip of a fruity Goombay Smash. For a speedy seafood meal that doesn’t cut corners on quality, this is one of the best fast-casual spots in the A. They offer great fried fish, simple sides like corn muffins and yellow corn grits, and housemade seltzers all in a counter-service dining room.

Charlotte Tilbury on the Inspiration Behind Her New Fragrances

charlotte tilbury cryo recovery eye serum

To conclude this section, it’s evident that Charlotte Tilbury’s Cryo-Recovery Eye Serum has been thoughtfully formulated with potent ingredients to provide visible results. It is always impressive to see such high-quality ingredients in skincare products. Before we begin, it’s crucial to remember that understanding the ingredients in your skincare products can be instrumental in choosing what’s best for your skin type.

What seems to be a true difference, though, is that the salt form is more stable, easier to formulate and cheaper so it pops up more often on the ingredient lists. It's often paired with glyceryl stearate - the two together form a super effective emulsifier duo that's salt and acid tolerant and works over a wide pH range. It also gives a "pleasing product aesthetics", so no wonder it's popular. It can be naturally found in fruits and teas but can also be made synthetically. It’s often used together with ethylhexylglycerin as it nicely improves the preservative activity of phenoxyethanol.

CHARLOTTE'S MAGIC HYDRATOR MIST75 ML

A so-called dispersant or dispersing agent that's used in inorganic (titanium dioxide/zinc oxide based) sunscreens or in make-up products to help to distribute the pigments nicely and evenly on the skin. It's also claimed to increase the UV absorption of the sunscreen formula as well as to reduce the annoying white cast left behind by inorganic sunscreens. The manufacturer claims that thanks to biomimetic properties between skin proteins and carrageenans it has a very long-lasting action and can form a "second skin". It also gives a "slow-release" effect to oil-loving active ingredients and measurably reduces trans-epidermal water loss (that's pretty much a synonym of saying that it moisturizes the skin).

MAGICAL SAVINGS WITH EXCLUSIVE KITS

It’s not a strong one and doesn’t really work against bacteria, but more against mold and yeast. For that to happen, there has to be water in the product and the right pH value (pH 3-4). There is also some research showing that citric acid with regular use (think three months and 20% concentration) can help sun-damaged skin, increase skin thickness and some nice hydrating things called glycosaminoglycans in the skin. Also, if your skin is sensitive, fragrance is again not your best friend. It’s definitely a smart thing to avoid with sensitive skin (and fragrance of any type - natural is just as allergic as synthetic, if not worse!). Sodium hydroxide in itself is a potent skin irritant, but once it's reacted (as it is usually in skin care products, like exfoliants) it is totally harmless.

Her outsize personality is lovingly parodied on TikTok, and she’s prone to referencing the stars—both longtime friends like Kate Moss, her children’s godmother, and those twinkling in the cosmos—as well as energy frequencies. Tilbury says, “I don’t want to see invisible women,” so her products make eyes look brighter and complexions more dewy, and are known for creating an intensely glamorous effect. Gold has been used to lift, firm, and brighten faces for millennia; even Cleopatra incorporated the precious metal into her beauty routine.

Many shades can be worn as either a highlighter or blush, each blending effortlessly into skin. The wands are formulated with hydrating glycerin and smoothing silica to keep the skin looking and feeling its healthiest, per the brand. No matter how light you typically travel, you’ll want to make room for the ultra-hydrating Probiotics + Triple Peptide refreshing eye cream and rose quartz eye massager from Glowasis. The easy-to-grip massage tool rolls easily around the eye, boosting circulation and increasing absorption of the satiny, niacinamide-laced eye cream. Not only is this 15-ml wand TSA-approved, the soothing gel glides on seamlessly with the help of a smartly curved applicator. Neuropeptides in this slick, plant-based serum help conceal fine lines and wrinkles, while sodium acetylated hyaluronate moisturizes dry skin—a blessing during tarmac delays.

The Best Eye Creams for Jet-Lagged Travelers

HA is famous for its crazy water holding capacity as it can bind up to 1000 times its own weight in water. A very common water-loving surfactant and emulsifier that helps to keep water and oil mixed nicely together. A little helper ingredient that can boost the performance and enhance the delivery of active ingredients in a formula. It can penetrate deep layers of the skin helping actives to do the same. I was looking for something to reduce puffiness and brighten my pesky dark circles, but also something that would hydrate my skin at the same time. The serum won’t replace my personal go-to eye product, but that’s merely due to my preferences.

Use the flat side to apply the serum to the undereye area, and twist to use the ball side for a refreshing massage effect. No matter if you’re new to skincare or a seasoned veteran, you NEED to check out this brand. Let me tell you, if I had to pick one product to give to a friend for a special occasion, this serum would be a frontrunner.

You’ll also notice small Roman numerals underneath each perfume name, which Tilbury believes match the “energy” of each scent. To me, these numbers (while tiny on the bottles themselves), are a bit arbitrary to the fragrances, but I suppose they do add a certain je ne sais quoi to the collection's overall vibe. Citronellol is a very common fragrance ingredient with a nice rose-like odor. In the UK, it’s actually the third most often listed perfume on the ingredient lists. Another thing Caffeine is used for in body care products is its anti-cellulite effects.

As Dr. Soh points out, other anecdotal benefits of cryotherapy include clearer thinking, more energy, and less anxiousness overall. Just like other similar fragrance ingredients (like linalool and limonene) geraniol also oxidises on air exposure and becomes allergenic. It's in many plants, e.g. rosemary, eucalyptus, lavender, lemongrass, peppermint and it's the main component (about 50-90%) of the peel oil of citrus fruits. It's one of those things that help your cosmetics not to go wrong too soon, aka a preservative.

Both retail at around £50, so they are definitely more of an investment, but after trying them out for myself, I was sold. I thoroughly enjoyed using it, and the results were undeniably good. I would happily recommend the Cryo-Recovery Eye Serum to our readers. Right off the bat, let me take you on the journey of using this product. I committed to using it every morning and evening, gently dabbing a pea-sized amount under each eye after cleansing my face and before moisturizing.

Some boat companies offer two Seine River dinner cruises a day, the first starting around 6 pm and the second starting at 8.30 pm or later. A Seine River dinner cruise usually lasts from 1hr 15 min to 3 hours, and it comes with or without music. Most of these River Seine cruises with dinner offer different menus with vegetarian and vegan dishes, and this is something that you need to specify during the booking process. For more extended Paris stays, pair a half or full day Seine cruise with in-depth tours of attractions docked along the route.

Bateaux Mouches Dinner Cruise

Windy Conditions Higher winds on the river may impact the boat’s stability. If very windy, consider rescheduling since you likely won’t be able to enjoy upper deck seating. Sunny Day If sunny, an open-top upper deck on the boat would be ideal. You can take in full views of landmarks like Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower while staying protected from the sun in the shade.

Mostly, the cost of a River Seine tour in this case depends on where you want to be seated, and what menu you opt for. The plain sightseeing cruise costs €18, with occasional offers for cheaper prices. The rest of the cruise companies (most of which also offer regular sightseeing cruises) specialize in renting for private hires for larger groups, weddings, and corporate events. Here is a list of companies that offer semi-private or private boat tours along the Seine. First, here are those companies which specialize in private Seine cruises which are probably the best fit for those looking for a private experience as a couple, family, or small group.

Book Your Seine River Cruise Tickets

river cruise on the seine

This Seine River tour comes with a funny guide (English & French) specialized in capturing the imagination of the little ones. There are a couple of Paris River cruises especially designed for families with children. They both last 1 hour, and the commentaries are more adapted for the little ones. The itinerary is also different from the other Seine cruises. On the bus, you will pass by iconic sites like the Eiffel Tower, the Invalides, the Alexandre III Bridge, the Petit Palais and Grand Palais, the Champs-Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe, and more.

Typical Seine River Cruise Route map

Regular cruises have free seating and you can sit wherever you find a spot – and also move around for views and photos during the cruise. On lunch and dinner cruises, you’ll be seated at a table but you can’t specifically pick one. Then in 2017 I decided to do another Seine river cruise with Laurence as he had never done one before. Our decision was made simple on this visit as we were traveling with the Paris Pass and we were able to get free tickets with our pass for this cruise.

Rental and Privately Hiring a boat on the Seine

This not only saves on travel spending, but avoids you having to navigate the Metro network too. Consider hopping on a 3-course dinner cruise that sets sail close to the Musée d’Orsay. As you drift along the Seine, you’ll catch iconic sights like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, all from the comfort of your guaranteed window seat. The top-rated Seine River Cruise embarks right at the base of the Eiffel Tower.

3 full hours with departure around 7 PM enables seeing monuments both in dusk and fully lit up after dark. So in summary, first-timers may want to opt for a classic 1-1.5 hour river cruise, while return visitors could consider a longer or meal-inclusive option. Checking different company offerings for duration and scheduling will ensure the best Seine cruise fit. At the longer end, some full-day and multi-hour cruises are available for those really wanting an immersive experience. These may include multiple stops or activities like museum visits in addition to the Seine sightseeing. A small riverboat cruise offers a quaint, intimate feel that gets you closer to landmarks compared to packed tourist buses or boats.

An exclusive, private Tauck evening at Château du Taillis

Sail past the foot of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame de Paris, the Conciergerie, the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay ... Cruise itineraries on the Seine River can be any length from three nights up to 20 nights, depending on the cruise line you're traveling on. Since the Seine River flows through Paris, many cruises on this waterway pass by or near the Eiffel Tower.

The Lunch Cruise allow you enjoy a gourmet multi-course French meal while floating past Parisian monuments. Meal options range from buffets to set menus paired with quality French wines. Many boats have live musical entertainment, some with dancing.

Dress appropriately, and the magic of gliding by Notre Dame blanketed in snow or seeing sun set behind the ornate bridges will stay with you forever, no matter the season. Just beyond, the awe-inspiring Notre Dame Cathedral appears, its Gothic towers and architecture reflecting beautifully in the Seine’s waters. Across from this iconic cathedral is the Palais de Justice complex, including the towering medieval Conciergerie that held prisoners during the French Revolution. Sometimes beverages can be purchased on board, but is more common with upgraded dinner packages. There are also centrally located ports like Port Debilly between the Louvre and Orsay museums for routes in either direction.

The plus point of having your own private cruise of the River Seine means you get to relax in style (and privacy), travel at your own pace, and have more comfort overall. The Paris CityVision cruise is actually very similar to the Paris en Scène cruise. Again, the whole purpose of the cruise is to dine on gourmet food and sip excellent wine as you cruise along the Seine and enjoy the magnificent views of Paris. Also keep in mind there are no toilets at all on the boat or on any of the docking areas.

However, the most popular evening cruises can and will still sell out onsite, so booking early online is still advised when possible. Another good way, is to buy tickets online in advance through the cruise company’s website. This ensures you get a spot on the cruise you want, at the time you want. Many companies offer small discounts or priority boarding when you book online ahead of time. This is especially useful in peak tourist season when cruises sell out.

» Seine cruises might be canceled if the water level is too high or too low to operate. In this case, you will be given a couple of options, including a full refund. » On a Seine night cruise with dinner, it is worth paying a little extra to be seated by the window and enjoy a better view. The all-inclusive menu offers 3-5 different options (depending on the chosen menu) of starter, main dish, and cheese or dessert, and there’s always at least one vegetarian option for each course.

Paris and northern France shine in the spring, particularly April and May, as well as the shoulder months of September and October. While August is the peak season for tourists, keep in mind that locals often leave for their vacations, so some venues and restaurants are closed or may not have normal hours. For a special event such as a marriage proposal, renewal of vows or special dates like New Year, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or 14th July, we offer special evenings. Combine your leisure cruise on the Seine with a double-decker bus tour! Take advantage of OpenTour's open-topped double-decker buses to visit the heart of Paris on your own terms, getting on and off at will.
